Mini Industrial Switch

Good news: an upgraded version of our Mini Industrial Media Converter Series will be added an extra switch that allows the user to choose the speed of the SFP port (100 or 1000 Mbps).

​Let me explain you one usual scenario where a FO link running at 100 Mbps is desirable: ​As you know, when running at 100 Mbps using multimode FO, the distance can be greater than if running at 1000Mbps.​This way, if you configure a pair of media converters to run at 100 Mbps, longer distances can be reached, ​This has been tested by our Spanish partners​, an upgraded version of our Mini Industrial Media Converter will run at 100 Mbps and you can therefore reach 5km MM FO.

​For example, There is an analog camera on a remote location. This camera needs to be replaced to an IP camera, but replacing the FO with a SM one is very expensive and inconvenient. If you install a media converter on each side of the FO and set them to run at 100 Mbps, this link will work. If you use media converters running at 1000 Mbps, it won’t work at this speed due to modal dispersion over MM FO.
