1.car 有“车厢”之意。如： The first-class cars.“头等车厢”

Eg: I never take first-class cars before. 

2.Overwhelm:

 V.“压垮，使应接不暇；淹没；（感情上）不知所措”

Eg: Grief overwhelmed me. 我不甚悲伤；

3.cascade: 作n. “瀑布” 作v.“瀑布式的落下，大量倾泻”

注意：cascade作“瀑布”时，是指顺着岩石一级一级往下流的小瀑布；waterfall是指悬崖处的大瀑布；

Eg: Her hair cascaded down her back. 

4.wade: v. 蹚水，跋涉；（walk through water with difficulties)

Eg: Guangzhou had been flooded in 2020. At that time, the boy carried the girl to wade through the water. 

5.murky: adj. 昏暗的，浑浊的，暧昧不清的

A murky night. 一个昏暗的夜晚

Eg: a crime hit her in a murky night. 

6.bring on: v. 引起，导致

Eg: the extreme weather was brought on by the climate change. 

7.squeeze: v. 挤压，限制、削减（资金）

Eg: 

she is squeezing her hand to stay awake. 

The government is squeezing the subway’s investment budget. 

I squeezed time to keep further study after duty. 

8.ridership: n. 客流量

Eg: i was scared by the ridership on subway during national holiday. 

9.retrofit: v. 翻新

Eg: we retrofitted our old house in 2021. 

10.undertaking: n.任务

Eg: i finally accepted this undertaking after thinking twice. 

11.mass transit: n. 公共交通

Eg: we call for people to take mass transit, in order to soothe the traffic congestion during rush hour. 

12.relief: n. 救济，救援物资，宽慰，解脱，免除痛苦

Eg: we took two tablets for the relief of pain.
