1.car 有“车厢”之意。如: The first-class cars.“头等车厢”

2.Overwhelm:
V.“压垮,使应接不暇;淹没;(感情上)不知所措”
Eg: Grief overwhelmed me. 我不甚悲伤;
3.cascade: 作n. “瀑布” 作v.“瀑布式的落下,大量倾泻”
注意:cascade作“瀑布”时,是指顺着岩石一级一级往下流的小瀑布;waterfall是指悬崖处的大瀑布;

4.wade: v. 蹚水,跋涉;(walk through water with difficulties)

7.squeeze: v. 挤压,限制、削减(资金)
Eg:

8.ridership: n. 客流量
Eg: i was scared by the ridership on subway during national holiday.
9.retrofit: v. 翻新
Eg: we retrofitted our old house in 2021.
10.undertaking: n.任务
Eg: i finally accepted this undertaking after thinking twice.
11.mass transit: n. 公共交通
Eg: we call for people to take mass transit, in order to soothe the traffic congestion during rush hour.
12.relief: n. 救济,救援物资,宽慰,解脱,免除痛苦
Eg: we took two tablets for the relief of pain.
